One Track Mind

Honestly, even I'm getting tired of myself. All I think about these days is the Foreign Service. I've been known to have an obsessive mind, but usually the obsession peters out in a few weeks or months (the exception being pregnancy and new mommy-hood). But this has been going on for about a year, and frankly, I'm tired of thinking about it. Yet I love thinking about it, and reading about it, and obsessing over it. And I don't think I'm that uncommon.

So I'm just going to admit that I am obsessed. When I am alone with my thoughts, they always go back to the FS. What would it be like to live in x country? When will I get on the register? When might I realistically get "the call"? How should I tackle all the crap in the basement to get ready for packout?

There is one thing I should concentrate on right now: the Spanish test. I need a book to help me review grammar on the train. And I need to set up conversation partners. But it's more fun to dream about my future posts.

And since I LOVE organizing (seriously!), my goal is to take this spring/summer to get all our crap organized. The basement, the photos, the filing cabinet, all the baby stuff that I need to sell, etc. I figure with that and enjoying the summertime, I can't go crazy with the waiting. Frankly, if they called me right now, I would not be ready!

But really. I'm tired of myself and my one track mind.

I could've written this myself-well, except for the part about loving to organize! Hopefully, we are almost there.

Waiting is not something you'll be 'done' with. You get into that maelstrom between posts as well. You get through it, but it is hard to go on 'coast' when you want to put your gears in drive... although sometimes you will want to put on the brakes, that are not there, of course! (we were so behind and disorganized at one point that we had to sell a car on the way to the airport!). This too shall pass :)

Tulum with tweens

I'm still here! Thought I'd write about our vacation to Tulum this past week. The kids' school is off for 'fall break,...
