One month away

I blinked and 3 weeks of ConGen passed. It's been busy and exciting and overwhelming. I love the spirit and the pride of the Bureau of Consular Affairs and feel that I definitely chose the right cone. I really think I'm going to enjoy my job.

I'm also overwhelmed at how much I need to know, though everyone says I don't have to memorize it, just have to know where to find it. I can't imagine being proficient at this work, but everyone tells me it happens in just a few months. So I'm just doing my best to trust them. It's not easy.

Suddenly we are a month away from departure. How did this happen? And why did I wait to do so many things? Doctor and dentist appointments, most of all. We bought a car, but I won't breathe easy until it's shipped. We rented the house- our tenants move in Friday. We have orders and plane reservations. This morning I woke at 3:30am and couldn't fall back asleep. Too many things and worries and to-dos running through my head. I have a feeling this is going to be the norm until we get there.

Congrats on renting your house. It is one less thing to worry about! Love following your journey to the DR via your blog. Will it continue while you are in the DR?

We feel your pain. We are far from ready and never have any time to do anything. Deep breaths, deep breaths...

I hear you! We're almost two weeks from departure and it just feels so weird and stressful and cool and scary all at once. Everything is pretty much done but there's still that feeling in the back of your mind that you're forgetting something crucial...
