keeping busy

Operation Home Organization is still high priority in the B household. My mom is coming up this weekend to occupy the kids. I have an appointment at a consignment shop that I made in March to sell some baby and maternity clothes and gear. Can't believe I am actually keeping this appointment. After that, I plan to tackle the basement.

I'm hoping that the B husband will take this time to explore boxes full of his stuff that he has not opened since we moved 3 years ago. Wish me luck in convincing him.

During the day, I have some free time and hope to finish the kids' photo baby books before we leave. I just know that once we join, I'll have other photo books to concentrate on (love the idea of a book per post) and the baby books will never get done. Photo books are so much more compact than photo albums and I foresee carrying a handful of them around from post to post. If they get lost/damaged, I can always order another one!

And I need to get moving on the kids' moving books. I plan to make each of them a construction paper book (low tech here) with photos discussing the move and what will happen to all their stuff. I still have my moving book from when I was about 5, and it was a source of much comfort during my childhood move (thanks, Mama).

Hoping to actually cross things off the list, soon.

Wow, good for you for getting those photo books and moving books started. I have wanted to do stuff like that but alas am still working on our wedding album. And we just celebrated 13 years of marriage. How pathetic am I.

Best of luck with mission organization!

I love the photo book idea ... it's something I really need to do as I haven't printed any of our digital photos in several years... What a great gift for the parents / inlaws too - who don't get to see the kids when they're so far apart...

Daniela, it's never too late..don't despair..many baby #2 will be a good incentive!

thanks, wannabe.

Jill- they make the most perfect presents!! I gave my parents a book last Hanukkah of pics of them with the kids. They were overjoyed and said it was the best present ever. I use shutterfly and find the quality very good.

ps Daniela, I took hours and hours to make my wedding album with real photos and photo corners in an expensive album, and now I'm afraid to display it or even look at it since it's too perfect/fragile!

We have only the negatives as the wedding was in Mexico, so thanks for reminding me - I need to get those negatives on a CD and make a photo book for them, too, so that it can sit on my coffee table and get looked at!

I have boxes that have not been opened in 15 years and moved several times. Most have things that related to my "earlier" years. Be careful about what you throw out. "Things" you can replace, "memories" you can not.

Papa B, are you who I think you are?
If so, I completely agree with you. I'm happy to keep sentimental stuff for either of us (well, mostly him), but stuff that's just in a box because it hasn't been organized/dealt with? I really don't want to move that around the world, assuming I get that invitation to do so!
Thanks for commenting!!

You are so organized!! Never heard of a "kids moving book" what is it? and does it contain?

hi, silent reach!
A kids moving book is just a story of the move. Like, "This is M. He lives in x, NY with his mama, daddy, and little sister L. Here are some of his favorite things. Soon, M and his family are going to move to a new house. The movers will pack up all their stuff and put it in a big truck....etc". I will insert lots of pictures and tell the story of the move. I should get started on this just in case...I'll share pictures! thanks for the reminder!

Tulum with tweens

I'm still here! Thought I'd write about our vacation to Tulum this past week. The kids' school is off for 'fall break,...
