Finally received word that all Con offers are accepted and the class is full. I'm sad my 2 friends didn't get in. I feel pretty ok about it- on to the New Year.
* had to correct this- had my ancient tv reference wrong!
We packed up the family and joined the Foreign Service in 2011. Currently in: Mexico City, Mexico!

Tulum with tweens
I'm still here! Thought I'd write about our vacation to Tulum this past week. The kids' school is off for 'fall break,...

What a day! I can't believe we got the DR. We are overjoyed! Today was totally intense. Around 3:15pm we were all in our seats, waitin...

So, after eating nothing but tacos and junk food for the first six months of my life here, I had gained a few pounds. I started trying t...

1st round of offers went out today and did not head my way. I haven't checked recently, but think I was ranked about 24-28 before today....

Bummer. :-(
I am so sorry you didn't get it this time! This process is so excruciating I don't know how we ever got through it.
I've said before that often the waiting is the hardest part. At least now you can get on with everything. Until the next round of offers, of course!
Your time will come.
i'm so sorry to hear that! i truly hope you get better news around the holidays :)
Sorry to hear it. But hopefully you can focus on some fun stuff these next few months.
I can't believe that! I'm sure it's a matter of just waiting it out because you've got a great score. My husband is super bummed! Please keep blogging because you've got a lot to say.
Sorry to hear this - we can tell you to just be patient, your time will come and live your life as normal in the meantime.....but to be honest, that is all horsedung - I know how hard it was for my hubbie during "the wait" so allow yourself to be annoyed, sad, angry, bummed.....and then yes, carry on with a smile - we are keeping all of our fingers crossed for you!!!!!
Hang tough!!
Boo...On to the new year. More time to clean out things and get organized. And you get to spend the holidays with your family...you may not be able to next year. = )
Hang in there, it will happen!!!! Like someone else said, enjoy fall and the holidays on the East Coast because you might be missing it next year! :)
On the language thing, surprisingly Chinese isn't quite as hard as you would think. It's definitely hard, but there are aspects of it that are fairly easy, especially in terms of listening comprehension. Sometimes I think it's easier than French! So it's worth a shot if you are interested.
Good luck in the new year!!
Hang in there. I'm pulling for you for Jan!
Sorry. Hopefully next class is the one for you.
thanks, all. It's so nice to wake up to so many supportive messages. I truly appreciate it.
I found ya! Diviya told me about your blog. Great catharsis when you're waiting.....and waiting....and waiting....and...zzzzz....oh wait, did I fall asleep? I heard you were waiting.....At least you get to spend Christmas in NY. - Andrea
I am sure that it is pretty disappointing.
Just like everyone else says, take advantage of what you have planned. Nothing like realizing all the things you want to do before you leave, and having the time to do them.
I'm so sorry to hear that, but you've got a great attitude...here's hoping for January!
