On to October

It's official: all Con offers have been extended and accepted and the Sept. class is full.

On to October.

So, August will be 'get the house ready' month, and Sept will be 'put house on the market' month. Then we might even have a chance to be together as a family during some or all of A100. I'm just not sure I can do it alone. The kids are really challenging lately (terrible twos, check! Sibling arguments, check!) and the ridiculous heat wave isn't helping. Mama's patience has been wearing very thin, and I can't help but think that it will be much harder when I'm a single mom in A100 or living in a challenging post.

I will say that M has been surprising us lately. 4 is quite different from 3. He puts on his own shoes, reacts calmly when he doesn't get what he wants, and regularly earns a 'cooperation sticker' in the morning. I am grateful for that, because L is taking up her share of the attention these days. Then again, she always has.

Congrats to those starting in Sept, and good luck to the rest of us.

P.S. it would be so nice if some of you who visit my blog regularly would comment! In the last 24 hours I had something like 75 visitors, but only 2 comments! I'd love to know who you are!

I'll comment! Your blog is great! I've been lurking (hmm, that's kind of a creepy term) around FS blogs because my dh just passed the FSOT and now we're waiting for the QEP results. He's currently military. We have some commitment time left (not to mention future deployments) so it'll probably be two years before we're in your position. In the mean time I'm really enjoying the openess and frankness of these blogs, helps me to understand what we may be getting ourselves into. I look forward to following your journey! Good luck! ~L

Well, it's a bummer you didn't get in the Sept. class but it sounds like you do need a little bit more time. Best of luck getting ready!!!

As a fellow blogger, I hear you on the comments. I too have a bunch of visitors but only a couple of comments each post.

We love to hear from the people reading our blogs, so don't be shy.

welcome, elmoisgr8
thanks for commenting! I started reading fs blogs a good 1.5 years ago, before I even took the FSOT and I know that I wouldn't be here without them! It totally helps you understand what it's really like. Thanks for visiting and commenting and good luck!

Daniela, I always appreciate your comments!! thanks for the good wishes!

Yay comments! Sorry about the September class but I am sure someone will drop out or you will definitely be in for October.

I've been waiting almost exactly 6 months for an invitation to a specialist OA. The wait is hard but the blogs definitely help everyone not to feel so alone!

Hi - I'm a "lurker", too. This is my third time through the process - OA failed in '08; QEP failed in '09 this will be my year though, hopefully :) I just started reading FS blogs and have enjoyed following you. Best wishes getting called for the October class! At least your end is in - sight :) If you want to trade places with me, I'll glady accept :)

I'll try to comment more often, but I do read regularly.

Still in adjudication, also hoping for October, in much the same situation as you with the house, but no small children. You're giving me some motivation to declutter some areas where it will make an immediate difference, like the bathroom.

Sorry September didn't work out. Sounds like October will surely be it though.
Good luck de-cluttering.

Hello B-Files. I am a lurker on many FS blogs. I am going to my OA in August in the Con cone too. Only a few people in our life know about this journey so we have not shared it on our blog, but I love reading about everyone else's journey too! Good luck with "the call."

I admit. I’ve been checking your blog daily to see if there was any news on the A-100 front. I’m on the register too now, but on DNC because the timing just doesn’t work out with my husband’s first post. It sounds like you’re seeing the silver lining of this. Although, I understand, even when you know it isn’t the best timing, you just want to see that email! Fingers crossed for an October call or whenever works best for you and the family.

Good luck with October! Thanks for checking out my blog - nice to link to another waiter. How do you check how many visitors you've had? I've never been able to figure it out, but am wildly curious.

hi everyone and thanks for commenting! It's nice to know some of you, and best of luck in this crazy process. It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

stmemory- I check yours all the time, too! Can't wait for you to post about Nica- this is a country i LONG to visit or live in...

stayathomework- go to the bottom right of my blog, there's this program called clustermaps. It just tells me how many visits and from what countries. it's fun.

andy- good luck on your OA!!

thanks again, all.

Well, I tried to leave a comment yesterday, but guessing it didn't go through! It was just me, though, checking to see what was up and desperately trying to avoid unpacking :-)

B, while I'm sorry Sep did not work out, I am confident that you will get "the call" soon, may be for October! Frankly, though I'm totally thrilled with the Sep invite, I am going a little nuts with putting the house up for sale, figuring out our "stuff situation", etc. And we are not working right now, and we don't have children at home! Honestly, I'm really not sure how some of the young families do it! Anyway, hope to see you around the FSI campus come October!

Tulum with tweens

I'm still here! Thought I'd write about our vacation to Tulum this past week. The kids' school is off for 'fall break,...
