Some photos to lighten the mood...

I feel the need to lighten this blog environment up a little bit. It feels a little gloomy and boring lately. Hence, a few random photos...
Here is L with her homemade "puter" aka computer. She is pretending to type.

The flowers I bought myself after not getting the call. They really helped! So did the cute baby.

It takes only 15min to walk to this lovely park on the Long Island Sound. Why don't we go more often?

Of course, all the kids want to do is throw rocks.

And finally, in the spirit of all the lunch bloggers out there, had to post a few lunch pics.

Awesome containers from easylunchboxes.com. I can't help thinking that in the FS, the kids' lunches might not have such variety... I probably go overboard just a little.

I love that you bought yourself flowers.
Those lunch containers are great, I love how colorful the lunches are. Well done.

Love the flowers, love the park and love love love the lunch boxes. IN the FS the lunches may have even more variety depending on where you are posted. In Jakarta my kids ate school lunches. Two choices everyday Asian and Western (not Indonesian and American) The school here in Malawi has no cafeteria, (which by the way if I had known that it would have been a deal breaker, three years of packing 3 kids lunches ever single school day, ACK!) I need some of those, pronto. Do you ever have any problems with leakage from one compartment to another?

I also like the flowers. You worked so hard you totally deserved them. Here's hoping you will get called in the beginning of 2011.

Cute pix BUT I have to say the jelly bean background is making me hungry.

My kids get some random lunches. Last year they often had seaweed instead pretzels. But I can't find seaweed in Amman.

thanks, guys! Of course lunches will "depend" on where I'm posted if I ever get in...hopefully I'll get at least one post in a country like Ecuador which apparently grows everything due to its diverse climate! Jakarta sounds great, too!!

Shannon- I LOVE this lunchbox system. The containers are like 10x stronger than any tupperware I have. For some reason, though, the lids don't snap on tightly (it's a start up company so I imagine she's working on it) so any liquidy stuff can leak if the container is upside down. The bags she sells keep the containers upright so we don't worry about it. You can also use wax paper. It's the only drawback imo.

Seaweed, huh? I'll have to try that!

Great photos and I love the colorful lunches! I miss blueberries terribly. The cherry tomatoes look amazing as well. Oh and the bagels! Good bagels are not in SE Asia. Maybe I need to learn to make some. Great idea about the flowers to cheer yourself up. Amazing what flowers can do!

Tulum with tweens

I'm still here! Thought I'd write about our vacation to Tulum this past week. The kids' school is off for 'fall break,...
